PICKAWAY – Pickaway County fair has released its 2020 fair schedule and it looks a lot different than in the years past, but during the Monday night meeting the fair asked for a lot of “patience and conformity” to the rules that they have to run under with Dewines orders for State Fairs set in place.

A majority of the fair has been modified for minimizing contact of surfaces, keeping safe distances and protecting people while holding the fair.

During the Monday meeting several people on the fair board verbalized that this year will be hard, and that they have worked very hard to figure out a plan that conformed with both state orders and local health department orders.

This year major noticeable changes will be that most of the doors to entrances and exits will be propped open to allow people to move throughout the fair without touching surfaces. Animals will only stay on the grounds for 72 hours so they will have staggered starts to all animals so during one day of the fair you may not see all the animals. Grandstands and Amphitheater will have markers to maintain safe distances between people to limit spread. Livestock sales will not have animals in them but just the children that raised them, and the sale will be buyers only. We will have rides but the way we enjoy them will be different these rules have not been completely rolled out yet but will be posted later on the website according to the fairgrounds. There will be no petting of the livestock on the grounds. No available seating in Heritage hall. All guests will be asked health assessment questions upon entry. Alcohol will not be permitted on the grounds. Masks must be worn inside Heritage hall, and suggested on the grounds.

Thats a long list of changes, but the fair board wants to remind people that most of the fairs in Ohio have cancelled fair this year, they have worked diligently to work with local health officials and commissioners to make this fair happen for us, if you cannot abide by the rules that the fair grounds need to operate this year is not for you. The fairground said during the meeting this is a lot of hard work for the children and something they love and believe in during a time of upheaval in our country.

The fair will go from Saturday June 20 to June 27th.
