VINTON – On July 3, 2019, at 3:53pm, the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Common Pleas Court advising that an individual with a warrant out of their Court was on the second floor of the Courthouse. A Deputy arrived and the individual, Paul L. Scarrett age 39 of Hamden, fled down the stairs and out of the Courthouse. Deputies apprehended Scarrett in the alley across from the Courthouse on East Main in McArthur. After being apprehended, Scarrett began complain of chest pains and demanded to go to the hospital. Scarrett was transported by Vinton County Emergency Medical Services to a Logan hospital, where after tests were completed a Doctor stated Scarrett was cleared to go to jail. Scarrett was taken to the South Eastern Ohio Regional Jail on the warrant. New charges of Obstruction of Justice and Resisting Arrest will also be filed.
