Pleasant Township – The Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred on SR 37 near milepost 12 in Fairfield County. The crash occurred on January 19, 2021 at approximately 04:57 PM.
Kathleen M. Harmon, age 73, of Lancaster was traveling northbound on SR 37 in a black 2005 Ford Escape. Todd T. Stoughton, age 50, of Baltimore was traveling southbound on SR 37 in a gray 2008 Ford Expedition when he traveled left of center and struck the Ford Escape head on.
Kathleen Harmon was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Stoughton was transported to Grant Hospital with serious injuries. There were two juvenile occupants in the Ford Escape. A 13 year old and a nine year old both suffered severe injuries and were transported to Columbus Childrens Hospital. Ms. Harmon was transported to the Licking County Morgue in Newark.
Troopers from the Lancaster Post of the Highway Patrol, along with Pleasant Township Fire and EMS, and the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene. The crash is currently under investigation.
