WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — A 24-year-old Washington Court House man has been arrested following an investigation into severe injuries sustained by a 7-week-old infant, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were notified on Dec. 20, 2025, of a possible assault involving the infant. Investigators immediately began an inquiry that included in-person interviews and consultations with medical professionals. Authorities determined the child’s injuries were consistent with abuse and assault.

As a result of the investigation, the child’s father, Aaron R. Oneal, was taken into custody and charged with felonious assault and endangering children. Both charges are second-degree felonies under Ohio law.

Oneal is currently being held at the Fayette County Jail and is awaiting an initial arraignment in Washington Municipal Court. The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains ongoing and will be forwarded to the Fayette County Prosecutor’s Office for review and possible additional charges.

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at 740-335-6170 and request to speak with Detective Brown.
