COLUMBUS, OH — In honor of Veterans Day, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife is inviting all veterans to enjoy a free day of shooting at any of Ohio’s public shooting ranges on Saturday, Nov. 15.
On that day, the Division of Wildlife will waive the shooting range permit requirement for veterans at all Class A, B, and C shooting ranges across the state. The event serves as a thank-you for veterans’ service and an opportunity to experience some of Ohio’s premier outdoor facilities.
ODNR’s public shooting ranges offer safe, comfortable environments for practicing with rifles, shotguns, handguns, and archery equipment.
- Class A ranges feature supervised rifle and pistol shooting.
- Class B ranges offer unsupervised rifle and pistol shooting.
- Class C ranges provide unsupervised clay target shooting for shotguns.
The local range at Deer Creek, located in Pickaway and Fairfield counties, is among those participating in the free event.

Normally, shooters 18 and older are required to purchase a $5 daily or $24 annual range permit. However, on Nov. 15, veterans can shoot free of charge at any of the Division of Wildlife’s public facilities.

The Division of Wildlife’s mission is to conserve and enhance Ohio’s fish and wildlife resources and provide opportunities for outdoor recreation and appreciation for all residents.
