
PICKAWAY COUNTY — A driver is facing multiple charges after allegedly traveling the wrong way on U.S. Route 23 and causing a serious crash Tuesday night.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred near the PCC Transportation building, just south of North Court Street. Witnesses reported a white sedan traveling northbound in the wrong lane, narrowly missing one vehicle before colliding with another.
Troopers identified the driver as Bailey Bargdill, 27, who was found behind the wheel of the wrong-way vehicle. Investigators said they immediately detected the odor of alcohol, and subsequent testing revealed Bargdill’s blood alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit, registering above .17 — an enhanced OVI offense.
US-23 in the are was shut down for around a hour for investagtion.
Bargdill was charged with aggravated vehicular assault, reckless operation, and OVI. He was not injured in the crash and was taken to the Pickaway County Jail, where he remains pending a court appearance.
No major injuries were reported among the occupants of either vehicle involved. One person was transported to Berger with injuries.
