
UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio – A two-vehicle collision on State Route 104 in Union Township, Ross County, on July 1, 2025, resulted in injuries, according to a report from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office. The crash, reported at 1:51 PM, occurred under rainy conditions on a wet asphalt road, contributing to the incident.
The accident involved a 2003 red Jeep Liberty driven by a 16-year-old of Kingston, Ohio, and a 2016 white Toyota Corolla driven by 51-year-old Michael B. Scott of Portsmouth, Ohio. According to the sheriff’s report, the juvenile was traveling northbound when his vehicle began hydroplaning, causing him to lose control. The Jeep crossed the centerline and struck Scott’s southbound Toyota in a head-on collision. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene by Eitel’s Towing.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene at 2:02 PM, with the roadway cleared by 2:40 PM after 47 minutes of investigation. The crash occurred on a straight, level section of the two-way road with a posted speed limit of 55 mph. No traffic control devices were present at the location, and the incident was not related to a work zone or intersection. The report indicates that the juvenile’s action of crossing the centerline was a contributing factor, with no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement for either driver. Both drivers were wearing shoulder and lap belts, and airbags deployed in both vehicles. Neither driver was ejected or trapped.
Union Township EMS transported both the juvenile and Scott to Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe for treatment of possible injuries.
