UPDATE Pickaway County – Vehicle Rollover on US-23 Leaves One with Injuries

A two-vehicle crash on July 27, 2025, in Harrison Township, Pickaway County, resulted in minor injuries and significant vehicle damage, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP). The incident, reported at 3:51 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 762 and US-23, involved a Honda Accord and a Mitsubishi Outlander.

Troopers responded to the scene, arriving at 3:57 p.m. The crash occurred when the Honda Accord, driven by Riley S. Gordon, 23, of Mount Sterling, Ohio, failed to yield while making a left turn from US-23 onto westbound SR-762. The vehicle collided with the Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by Katelyn O. Sims, 30, of Huntington, West Virginia, which was traveling southbound. The impact caused the Outlander to veer off the right side of the road, strike a ditch, and roll over three times. Inside the car were two children ages 8 and 6.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries. Gordon was transported by Harrison Township EMS to an local medical facility, while Sims was taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus along with the two children. Both were wearing seatbelts, and the children were in car seats.

The Honda Accord, a 2023, sustained disabling damage and was towed by Fletcher’s. The Mitsubishi Outlander, a 2020, also suffered significant damage and was removed by the same company. Gordon was cited for failure to yield the right of way when turning left (Ohio Revised Code 4511.42), with citation number OHP65057907272025172.

The crash site, located at latitude 39.692510 and longitude -82.987127, occurred on a divided, two-way road with four approaches and a posted speed limit of 60 mph. Weather conditions were rainy, and the roadway was wet, contributing to the incident. The scene was cleared by 5:10 p.m., with the roadway closed for 40 minutes during the 109-minute investigation.
