
MONROE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Feb. 28, 2026) — One person was seriously injured Saturday afternoon following a single-vehicle rollover crash in Pickaway County.
According to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash at approximately 4:05 p.m. along Yankeetown Pike in Monroe Township.
Investigators say a 2001 Ford Ranger pickup truck was traveling westbound when it crossed the center line and went off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a stump and overturned multiple times before coming to rest.
The driver, identified as 51-year-old Curtis Dean Smith of Derby, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported by Mount Sterling EMS to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment.
Deputies cited Smith for driving left of center in connection with the crash. Authorities reported road conditions were dry and the weather was clear at the time of the incident. The roadway was closed for approximately 30 minutes while crews worked the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
