Two-Vehicle Westfall Bus Crash was Fault of the Bus Driver

MUHLENBERG TOWNSHIP, OH — A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Pherson Pike (CR-24) and State Route 56 resulted in injuries late Friday, May 16, 2025, at 9:54 PM EDT, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report released on Thursday.. The incident involved a collision attributed to a failure to yield, with one driver cited for the violation.

The crash occurred when Arthur James Davis, 64, of Latonia, KY, was driving a 2020 Motor Coach D4505 southbound on Pherson Pike, owned by Executive Charter Inc. Davis failed to yield at a stop sign, striking a 2013 Kia Sorento driven by Sandy Irene Liston, 56, of Circleville, OH, who was traveling eastbound on SR-56. The impact caused significant damage, and both drivers sustained injuries. Emergency responders transported them to a local medical facility, though specific conditions remain undisclosed. No alcohol or drug involvement was suspected, and both were wearing safety equipment.

The Motor Coach held 35 Westfall Students, the driver, and a couple of adults. A child on the bus was taken to Nationwide Childrens, and the driver of the Kia was transported to local hospital.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol cited Davis for failing to yield the right-of-way at a through highway under Ohio Revised Code 4511.43, issuing citation OHP65088105162025231. The scene was cleared by 11:41 PM after a 218-minute investigation, with US-23 closed during the response. The patrol noted the crash occurred on a dark, unlighted roadway under clear weather conditions.
