
MIFFLIN TOWNSHIP, OH — Two Mifflin Township Police officers were shot during a traffic stop on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at approximately 6:45 PM EDT, leaving one in critical condition, as reported by authorities on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 7:53 AM EDT. The incident unfolded near the intersection of Mecca Drive and Perdue Avenue.
The officers had initiated a routine traffic stop when the passenger fled on foot. As they pursued, the suspect turned and opened fire, striking both officers. Emergency responders swiftly transported the injured officers to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle has cooperated with investigators, but the passenger, identified as Daveonte Dixon, 21 (DOB 6/6/2003), remains at large. Dixon faces charges including one count of attempted murder and two counts of felonious assault.
Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin stated, “Our focus right now is on the recovery of our injured officers and bringing the individual responsible to justice.” He urged the public to come forward with any information. A multi-agency effort involving local, state, and federal law enforcement is underway to apprehend the suspect, with the community asked to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
