
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Two men are facing felony charges following a reported shots fired incident early Saturday morning in Scioto County, according to Sheriff David Thoroughman.
Sheriff Thoroughman said the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls at approximately 2:41 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, reporting gunfire in the area of 5124 Swauger Valley Road near Portsmouth.
Deputies responding to the scene located multiple individuals and several firearms. A detective was called in to process the scene and begin an investigation. During the incident, one individual was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center with a possible gunshot wound and was later treated and released.
As a result of the investigation, two suspects were arrested and charged. William Durham, 26, of 5124 Swauger Valley Road in Portsmouth, and Jabez Stephen Durham, 28, of 102 Washington Blvd. in West Portsmouth, were both charged with felonious assault, a felony of the second degree.
Both men are being held on $20,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, January 5, 2026.
