“Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump wrote. He added that the U.S. would begin mine-clearing operations, vowing that any Iranian forces who fire upon American or peaceful vessels will be “BLOWN TO HELL!”
The Islamabad Summit Fails
The blockade follows a high-stakes, 21-hour diplomatic marathon in Islamabad, Pakistan. The talks represented the first direct, face-to-face engagement between high-level U.S. and Iranian officials since the 1979 Revolution.
Vice President JD Vance, who led the U.S. delegation, announced late Saturday night that despite “substantive discussions,” the two sides remained far apart. Vance left the Pakistani capital Sunday morning, stating that the U.S. had provided a “final and best offer” that Iran had failed to accept.
