Chillicothe, OH – A trespassing complaint at McArthur Gardens Apartments on Friday afternoon, May 31, led to the discovery and arrest of two individuals wanted on outstanding warrants — one of whom was found hiding in a bathtub, the other under a bed — according to a report from the Chillicothe Police Department.
At approximately 2:41 p.m., officers were dispatched to Apartment 108 at 1049 Columbus Street after receiving a report that Shanna Cantrell, who is barred from the McArthur Gardens complex, was unlawfully inside the residence.
Upon arrival, officers learned from Ross County Jail staff that Frankie Tate, the legal resident of the apartment, was currently incarcerated and had confirmed that no one was authorized to be inside his unit during his incarceration.
Police announced their presence and were met at the door by Jeramy Armstrong. Upon entering the apartment, officers found Crystal Beals and Frederick Watson emerging from a bathroom area. As officers continued searching the residence, they discovered Joseph Larue hiding under a bed. Larue was found to have an active felony bench warrant for third-degree felony drug possession (Case No. 24CR000454) from Ross County Common Pleas Court. He was immediately taken into custody and additionally charged with obstructing official business for attempting to evade police.
Following a further search, officers located Shanna Cantrell hiding in the bathtub. Cantrell had an active warrant from Chillicothe Municipal Court for a probation violation on a theft charge (Case No. CRB2401587), carrying a sentence of 146 days in jail. She was arrested on the warrant and also charged with obstructing official business and criminal trespassing, as she remains on the barred list at McArthur Gardens.
All other individuals in the apartment were removed, and the unit was secured. Larue and Cantrell were transported to Ross County Jail, where they were served with their respective warrants. Both are scheduled to appear in court on June 2 at 9:00 a.m. to face the new charges.
