Water Treatment Plant Manager Tom Jenkins leads his tour past a tank in the plant

Chillicothe — A tour of the city’s water plant shows that the water supply is cleaner and better protected than average city water, the water treatment plant is well-kept after more than 30 years – and its chemical and electrical usage is sizable.

Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney offered his “office hours” at the Chillicothe Water Treatment Plant in Yoctangee Park recently, with the opportunity to take a tour afterward. Tom Jenkins, Water Treatment Plant Manager, gave the tour. Accompanying us on August 26th, 2025, was city Utilities Director Nathan Prosch, council members Kathy Dunn and Richard McQuirt, and council candidate John Thacker.

See and hear samples of the tour in the 18 minutes of my three videos below. Also see my two stories and videos on my interview with the plant manager and the city utilities director, starting with an explanation of how the Wear-Ever groundwater pollution factors into city water…or doesn’t – then chatting about general facts.

Starting the tour among the offices, and through the first floor chemical area.
The basement areas, with a lot of piping…then back upstairs to the tanks.
Ending in the laboratory, then a glimpse outside.
