
As Americans gear up for one of the busiest holiday travel weekends of the year, the forecast — both meteorological and logistical — suggests conditions may get bumpy before turkey time.

🌧️ Weather Headaches for Midwest Travelers
If you’re driving or flying from Ohio and nearby regions, be prepared for possible weather trouble. In Columbus and surrounding areas — a decent proxy for many mid‑Atlantic/Midwest travelers — today brings cloudy skies and a chance of showers, followed by colder, gusty conditions later in the day. Temperatures will struggle to climb above the low 40s °F.

Rain today, and potentially chilly, blustery weather afterward, could make roads slick and slow — a concern for anyone embarking on long drives.
✈️ Air Travel: Record Crowds, Flight Cuts, Weather Disruptions
At the same time, the air travel system is under major strain:
- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) expects this Thanksgiving holiday period to be the busiest in 15 years, with more than 360,000 flights scheduled nationwide. Federal Aviation Administration
- Yet, the road to that busyness has been rocky — weeks of reduced air‑traffic‑control staffing and recent flight‑cancellation orders have already caused thousands of flight cancellations and delays.
- On top of that, winter‑weather systems sweeping across large parts of the country — including rain, snow, wind, and potential storms — threaten to worsen disruptions, especially for travelers flying through Midwest, Northeast, or Great Lakes hubs.

One recent update warns that more than 1,000 flights have already been canceled today, and dozens more delayed — with increasing pressure on airlines and airports to keep up with demand under less-than-ideal weather.
