Teen Motorcyclist Injured in Late-Night Crash on River Road in Ross County

Chillicothe, OH – An 18-year-old motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash late Monday night in Green Township, Ross County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred at 10:27 PM on June 2, 2025, on County Road 10 (River Road). Ryan M. Arenas of Chillicothe was traveling southeast on his 2002 black Honda CBR600F motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle veered left of center, ran off the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned before coming to rest in a ditch.

Arenas, who was wearing a DOT-compliant motorcycle helmet, suffered serious injuries and was transported by Green Township EMS to Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe. The patrol reported no alcohol or drug involvement. However, Arenas was cited for “wanton and willful disregard” under Ohio Revised Code 4511.20.

The crash occurred on a dark, unlit roadway under clear weather conditions, with dry asphalt. The motorcycle sustained disabling damage and was towed by Scioto Valley Towing. The roadway was closed for 60 minutes as emergency responders cleared the scene.
