ASHVILLE, Ohio — Teays Valley Local Schools kicked off the new school year with a morning of celebration, recognizing educators and staff who have gone above and beyond in their service to students and the community.

During Monday’s Convocation, district leaders surprised several employees with special honors, including the ALL In Award for exceptional commitment to the Viking community and the Educator of Excellence Award for outstanding teaching and classroom impact.

ALL In Award recipients included Jaymi Brumfield, Special Education Director, and Teresa Garrabrant, South Bloomfield Elementary Cafeteria Manager. Educator of Excellence honorees were Brent McCorvey, Teays Valley High School English and Spanish Teacher; Megan Steube, Walnut Elementary 1st Grade Teacher; and Emily Yurcho, Teays Valley East Middle School 6th Grade Math and Science Teacher.

The morning also featured a milestone moment as the district honored long-serving educators with the Golden Apple Award, presented by the Pickaway County Educational Service Center (ESC) to staff members who have completed 30 years in education. This year’s recipients were Ronna Brisker, Christine Brown, Bruce Bryant, Lin Dawson, Bob DeLong, Annette Fadenholz, Rick Foose, Andi Koch, and Jenny Stuckman.

The 2025-2026 school year is here, and Superintendent Kyle Wolfe kicked it off this morning with an inspiring message for our Viking staff. His challenge Good… Better… Best… What will you choose?

The Golden Apple Award is part of the ESC’s tradition of honoring educators for long-term service, with the Golden Bell Award given to those reaching 40 years in education.
