PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — A late-night pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended in a crash and arrest Monday night, according to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the incident began around 11:33 p.m. on March 30 near State Route 56 and Shoemaker Road, when a deputy located a gray 2021 Audi A5 reported stolen out of the Circleville Police Department. The vehicle had also reportedly fled from the Ohio State Highway Patrol earlier in the evening in neighboring Ross County.

Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle with assistance from a state trooper, but the driver refused to comply, maneuvering around a patrol vehicle and running a stop sign at State Route 56 and Tarlton Road. The suspect then continued westbound at high speeds.

A second deputy attempted to deploy stop sticks near Old Tarlton Pike, but the vehicle avoided them and turned south onto Hitler Road, continuing to flee at a high rate of speed.

The pursuit came to an end moments later at the intersection of Hitler Road and Hitler Road No. 2, where the Audi crashed into a guardrail.

Deputies reported that a man, later identified as Hanley Davis, exited the vehicle and walked toward a patrol cruiser before lying on the ground and surrendering. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Authorities say Davis complained of injuries following the crash, and deputies observed blood on his face. He was transported by EMS to Berger Hospital for treatment and medical clearance.

During the investigation, Davis admitted to driving the vehicle and told deputies the keys were in his pocket, where they were later recovered. He declined to make further statements after being advised of his rights.

Investigators say evidence inside the vehicle, including personal belongings, was linked to Davis.

Davis is facing multiple charges, including:

  • Failure to comply with a lawful order or signal of a police officer
  • Receiving stolen property
  • Driving under suspension
  • Reckless operation
  • Failure to control
  • Marked lanes violation

The vehicle was impounded as evidence, and the investigation remains ongoing.
