
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (April 6, 2026) — The Chillicothe Police Department responded to a series of serious incidents on April 5, including a stabbing, assault, and multiple disorderly conduct calls, according to the department’s daily media report.
🔴 Stabbing Leads to Arrest
One of the most serious incidents occurred just after 4:10 p.m. on Laurel Street, where officers responded to a reported stabbing. Authorities say the case has been classified as felonious assault with serious injuries in a domestic situation, and an arrest was made at the scene. Additional details about the victim’s condition have not been released.
⚠️ Assault at City Park
Just minutes earlier, officers were dispatched to Mary Lou Park on Toledo Street for a reported assault. That case remains under investigation.
🚔 Disorderly Conduct Incidents
Police also handled multiple disorderly conduct calls throughout the day, including:
- An incident on Mechanic Street where an arrest was made
- A separate disturbance involving fighting or threats at a business on East Main Street
📄 Warrants and Other Arrests
Officers conducted several warrant-related actions, including serving an arrest warrant on Jason Butterbaugh at the Ross County Jail after his arrest by the sheriff’s office. Additional warrant checks were conducted earlier in the day, including one at a business on East Main Street.
🕵️ Theft and Threats Under Investigation
Other incidents reported include:
- A theft investigation on River Trace Lane
- A menacing complaint involving threats on East Water Street
🚗 Traffic Stop Investigation
Police also conducted a traffic stop on Winona Boulevard related to an equipment violation, which led to an investigation into licensing compliance.
