Chillicothe and Ross County — The Ross County Republicans have been hosting meet-and-greets (like their Democratic Party opponents) to introduce candidates to constituents for the fall election. A large gathering was in the Second Ward of Chillicothe, with six candidates appearing.

Four incumbent council members and two Municipal Court candidates spoke to the small crowd at the far end of Yaple’s Orchard on September 4th, 2025. I asked Connie Scott, vice president of the Republican Women of Ross County, to summarize the event. Hear her in her own words below.

Scott said the Second is one of the larger wards, with many Republicans – and they try to have second event in it, among gatherings in the other wards. Eventually, all 10 Republican candidates meet the public multiple times.

She also summarized State Bill 58 as setting a state standard for drug rehab housing, which Municipal Court candidate Jordan Wheeler has addressed. Scott said there were concerns about out-of-county residents and an excessive concentration of the residences in some counties – like an 800% increase of such housing in Scioto County.

I also interviewed current Municipal Court Judge Keith Washburn at the event, who will be in a related story.

She said the Republican Women open their office at the corner of Water and High streets at 6pm on third Tuesdays, and to get informed about current situations, visit their Facebook page.

A few events have happened since this one, but the next will feature the Municipal Court judge candidates on October 9th in the Richmond Township office at 225 Market Street in Richmond Dale (see below).

Scott explains the gathering and future events, as well as the candidates and issues covered.
