COLUMBUS, OH – A severe storm threat is looming over Ohio this evening, with the National Weather Service issuing a warning at 1:27 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Storms are expected to begin between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., lasting through midnight, with the highest risk concentrated in the western part of the state. The primary threat is damaging winds, accompanied by large hail and a limited tornado risk, particularly in western Ohio and eastern Indiana.

The forecast predicts 2-3 inches of rain from Wednesday through Thursday, though the storm intensity may weaken as temperatures cool overnight. Clearer weather is expected by Thursday, followed by a significant heat wave. In Pickaway County, there is an additional concern for potential flooding, exacerbated by flooding that occurred in the area just a week ago, which could worsen with the incoming rainfall.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, use multiple methods to receive alerts, secure loose outdoor items to prevent debris, and stay hydrated. The storm’s progression will be monitored, with higher confidence in severe conditions along a Columbus, Ohio, to Maysville, Kentucky, corridor.
