Chillicothe — The Transit System is installing new benches, updating the library bus stop…and getting a second “trolley.”
Chillicothe councilman Richard McQuirt, city services chair, praised Amy Arnold and Mark Mathews in Transit for their work, in the February 9th, 2026 council session.
McQuirt said Transit is installing six new benches at bus stops, and will update the bus stop shelter at the library at South Paint and Sixth Street.

He also said they are in the process of getting a second trolley bus, which they want to be in blue and white. The first trolley (red) has been very busy, and McQuirt said it is very popular when loaned elsewhere – like at the Circleville Pumpkin Show.
McQuirt said he is not aware of a timeline for when the trolley will arrive. Find the page for the current trolley on the city’s webpage.
He is also sponsoring a resolution on the annual public auction of used or obsolete city property. The city now uses an online auctioneer, but McQuirt said he didn’t know what is on the list of when the auction will happen after two more reads for the legislation.
