Chillicothe — The second monthly “Free Market” is this Saturday, where money is not needed and the intent is to build community.

Two volunteers at Monday’s Chillicothe Council session in the Main Library Annex were handing out flyers on the event that will happen again on May 17th in that same room.

Sponsored by the First Capital Pride Coalition, the market starts at noon on third Saturdays in Room B-1 behind 146 South Paint Street. The volunteers said there are no restrictions or requirements, and you can bring and take whatever you want without paying.

Although necessities to to help the less fortunate are welcome at the market, they said the intent is more to build community – for example, offering cooking supplies to open a conversation on cooking healthy meals.

They also hope to offer “pop-up” Free Markets at other locations. Hear more in their own words in the below video interview.

The “First Capital PRIDE Coalition” has a website and Facebook page.
