Chillicothe — With the title “Scioto Valley Forward: A Historic and Hopeful Partnership,” another tool has been announced “to tackle the workforce challenges confronting Ross County and southern Ohio” with the threatened closing of Chillicothe’s paper mill.
The informally named “paper mill response team” or “Pixelle Response Team” unveiled the website and office location in a news release this morning, also viewable below.
The online microsite is “featuring events, job postings, and business incentives.”
In the Main Annex of the Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library, the workforce hub will be offering “assistance with job searches, resume building, and other related services. Events about financial literacy, starting a small business, and other topics will soon be added.”
I stopped by there in the first hour of their first day, to catch the “Ohio Means Jobs” state employment assistance crew still setting up.
“As our community navigates the uncertainties of the job market…this strategic public-private partnership aims to improve our local economy and support our businesses and workforce” with “access to essential information and resources during this transformative period.”

The task force also held their weekly meeting with the Ross County Commissioners, again in executive session.
Afterward I spoke with Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce leader Mike Throne to get an update on that effort, as well as an overview of “Scioto Valley Forward.” See the interview video in a side story.
