ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A woman was arrested and charged with multiple felony and misdemeanor offenses following an intoxicated disturbance at a Western Avenue restaurant drive-thru on Feb. 2, according to a report from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Ariana Williamson reported being dispatched around 7:56 p.m. to 1344 Western Ave., near Casa Del Taco and Captain D’s, after reports of an intoxicated driver attempting to strike people with a vehicle. Upon arrival, Deputy Williamson made contact with officers from the Chillicothe Police Department, who had already detained the suspect.

Officers on scene reported that the suspect, identified as Amanda Rue, was involved in a confrontation in the Casa Del Taco drive-thru line. A witness told officers that Rue repeatedly revved her engine and attempted to strike her with the vehicle. The witness declined to file charges or provide a written statement. A restaurant manager requested that Rue be barred from the property.

According to police, Rue showed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, glassy and watery eyes, and the odor of alcohol coming from her vehicle. Officers reported that Rue became verbally aggressive, resisted commands, and at one point spat toward an assisting officer while being escorted to a patrol car.

Deputy Williamson later spoke with Rue, who admitted to driving and was found seated behind the wheel of a running vehicle in the parking lot. The deputy observed additional indicators of impairment and attempted to conduct standardized field sobriety tests. Rue declined to complete the tests and was placed under arrest for physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence.

The report states that Rue continued to resist officers during the arrest process, including pulling away, stumbling, and striking Deputy Williamson while handcuffs were being adjusted. Deputies also reported that Rue made repeated threats toward law enforcement officers during transport and booking at the jail.

Due to Rue’s behavior, multiple corrections officers assisted with the booking process. A urine sample was collected for testing, and her vehicle was towed from the scene. Rue was advised that she is barred from Casa Del Taco on Western Avenue.

Rue was booked into the Ross County Jail and charged with the following offenses:

  • Physical Control of a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence
  • Obstructing Official Business (Felony 5)
  • Resisting Arrest (Misdemeanor 1)
  • Assault (Felony 4)
  • Intimidation (Felony 3)

The incident remains under investigation.
