The Ross County Sheriff’s Office is among nearly three dozen law enforcement agencies across Ohio to receive funding through Governor Mike DeWine’s RecoveryOhio initiative, securing $93,040 to enhance its fight against drug trafficking and support substance use prevention and recovery programs.

The funding comes as part of a $2.2 million statewide grant distribution aimed at strengthening local drug task forces. A total of 34 task forces will benefit from the RecoveryOhio Law Enforcement Fund, which is designed to help agencies identify and dismantle large-scale drug operations, intercept drug and money flows from international cartels, and advance public health initiatives related to substance abuse.

“This grant program helps local law enforcement stop drug traffickers and prevent drug dependence using a two-pronged approach,” said Governor DeWine in the official announcement. “Not only do they work to stem the flow of drugs, but they’re also helping citizens with prevention and recovery support.”

Administered by the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services, the funding will aid in advancing the goals of the RecoveryOhio initiative: increasing public awareness of substance use and mental health issues, implementing prevention education in schools, connecting residents to treatment, and promoting long-term recovery.

The Ross County Sheriff’s Office will use the $93,040 to expand enforcement operations targeting high-level traffickers and to collaborate with health organizations in supporting community outreach and recovery services.

The funding was made possible through a partnership between Governor DeWine and the Ohio General Assembly, who worked together to include the program in the state’s operating budget.
