Ross County — The institution for city and county history and prehistory recently held their annual meeting, with announcements of awards, scholarships, and other presentations.

The Ross County Historical Society met on April 28th at the Ross County Heritage Center in Chillicothe. Three high school graduates received the Colonel Richard Enderlin Scholarship, and four county residents or institutions received “First Capital Awards” for work in local history.

One of them was me, though I had to gave a late acceptance speech after rushing over from covering Chillicothe Council that night.

Historical Society director Andy Hall outlines the event in the below video interview, including explaining a new program by the society on “Marker Restoration” in the county’s cemeteries.

And though very late, I caught one presentation during the event (below), involving the ongoing quilt exhibit. Dana Martinko was acknowledged for her work on that, and copies of her book will be placed in every high school and library in the county.

The Ross County Historical Society has a website, and accounts for Tumblr, Pinterest, X / Twitter, Facebook, and BlueSky.
