ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A man was arrested Saturday night after deputies say he tried to break into a home along State Route 104 and later resisted arrest when confronted by law enforcement.
According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 10 p.m. on Nov. 1 to the 17,000 block of SR 104 after reports of a man attempting to gain entry into a residence.
Dispatchers told deputies that the suspect—later identified as Aiden Gragg—was wearing a navy-blue hoodie and black pants. When confronted by a nearby resident, Gragg reportedly fled southbound on SR 104.
Deputy Jacob JoHansen located Gragg walking near the scene and attempted to stop him. Despite repeated commands to halt, Gragg allegedly ignored the deputy’s orders and continued walking away. JoHansen then detained him on the ground off the roadway, where deputies said Gragg resisted arrest by pulling away and grappling with officers.
Deputies Colt Mitchell and Luke Ramsey arrived to assist, ultimately securing Gragg in handcuffs. Sgt. Jacob Riege later conducted a pat-down and helped transport the suspect to the Ross County Jail.
During the investigation, deputies reviewed Ring doorbell footage that reportedly showed Gragg on the home’s porch for several minutes, knocking on doors and pressing keys on a digital lock keypad, which investigators said amounted to an attempted burglary.
Gragg was charged with attempted burglary, resisting arrest, and obstructing official business. Deputies said he was previously arrested just three days earlier on unrelated charges.
The homeowner and a neighbor provided written statements, and no injuries were reported during the incident.
