PICKAWAY COUNTY, OH — A New Holland man previously convicted of child sex crimes is behind bars again, after pleading guilty to a fresh set of disturbing charges involving the sexual abuse of two young boys.

Joseph Everts, 35, is currently being held in the Pickaway County Jail after investigators reportedly obtained video evidence of the abuse. Everts, a registered sex offender, was previously convicted in 2017 for Illegal Use of a Minor in Nudity-Oriented Material.

This week, Everts pleaded guilty to multiple felonies, including:

  • Sexual Battery
  • Gross Sexual Imposition
  • Importuning
  • Pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor
  • In total, Pickaway County charged Everts with a total of 71 charges of abuse, but in court this week he pleaded guilty to 32 of them.

Authorities say several of these charges are first- and second-degree felonies, reflecting the severe nature of the alleged offenses.

Judge Chafin gave maximum penalties in this case and made all the sentences run consecutively, meaning they are served one after the other, rather than at the same time (concurrently), a total of 56.5 years to 59 years. He also, if he ever paroles, will be a Tier 3 sexual offender for a lifetime. Everts is currently 36 years ol,d making him 92 at the end of his sentence.
