SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — A Portsmouth man is facing multiple felony drug charges following a disturbance call Saturday night in West Portsmouth, according to Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman.

The Scioto County 911 Communications Center received a call at approximately 8:08 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, reporting a disturbance at a residence in the 52 block of Clayton Court in West Portsmouth. Sheriff Thoroughman said Washington Township Community Policing Deputies, along with additional deputies, were dispatched to the scene.

Deputies were advised that a male subject was beating on a door and yelling at a female. Upon arrival, deputies observed a man attempting to leave the area in a silver Nissan Sentra. When deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver reportedly tried to drive around them. A deputy blocked the vehicle, preventing the suspect from leaving.

The suspect was detained by Deputies Travis and Trever McKenzie, Deputy Ginn, and Deputy Marcum. During a search of the suspect, deputies located drug paraphernalia and a substance later identified as methamphetamine, commonly referred to as “ice.”

Sheriff Thoroughman said the suspect consented to a search of the vehicle, where deputies found eight bags of prepackaged drugs inside a safe. The substances were later confirmed to be methamphetamine with a combined weight totaling 65 times the bulk amount. Deputies also recovered scales, three cell phones, and cash.

The suspect was arrested without incident and transported to the Scioto County Jail.

Arrested was Jason E. Blair, 33, of Mabert Road in Portsmouth. Blair has been charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, a first-degree felony; Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a first-degree felony; Hidden Compartments in a Vehicle, a second-degree felony; Possession of Criminal Tools, a fifth-degree felony; and Drug Paraphernalia, a second-degree misdemeanor.

Blair is being held on a $73,250 bond and is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, December 29, 2025.

Sheriff Thoroughman credited the quick response and observations of the Washington Township deputies for removing a significant amount of drugs from the street, stating the arrest plays an important role in keeping Washington Township and Scioto County communities safe.
