Police Respond to Variety of Incidents in Chillicothe on May 31st

CHILLICOTHE, OH — Chillicothe police were kept busy on May 31, 2025, with a wide range of calls including missing juveniles, drug arrests, thefts, and two non-suspicious deaths, according to the department’s daily media report.

The day began just after 1 a.m. when officers responded to a call on East 7th Street for a report of a missing juvenile. That investigation is ongoing.

Around 2:30 a.m., a traffic stop on East Main Street led to an arrest for drug possession and an outstanding warrant. Just a few hours later at 7:11 a.m., officers were called to Fleet Street after a vehicle was reported stolen.

At 8:52 a.m., police responded to a residence on Walnut Hills Drive where a person was found deceased. The death is believed to be non-suspicious.

Later that morning and into the afternoon, officers responded to multiple reports of vandalism and trespassing. A criminal mischief case was reported on Liberty Street, and another occurred on Scioto Avenue later in the day. Police also investigated trespassing incidents at locations including Columbus Street, West Main Street, and Hopewell Grove Rehabilitation and Nursing on Marietta Road.

At 12:22 p.m., officers responded to McArthur Gardens on Columbus Street, where a suspect was reported for trespassing and later charged with obstructing official business and taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.

An afternoon crash on East Main Street resulted in a citation for failing to maintain an assured clear distance. A hit-skip crash was also reported on Hildegarten Street.

The day concluded with another non-suspicious death on South Watt Street, currently under investigation.

Overall, Chillicothe police handled 16 documented incidents throughout the day, several of which remain under active investigation.
