CIRCLEVILLE, OH — Area pond owners and land managers can now place orders for the 2026 Pickaway Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Fish Sale, which is open through March 24.
The annual fish fingerling sale offers a variety of fish for stocking ponds and lakes, with order forms and species information available online at pickawayswcd.org/fish-sale.html. Orders may be submitted by mail or dropped off in person at the Pickaway SWCD office.
Completed order forms and payment — accepted by cash or check — must be received by March 24, 2026. Orders can be mailed or delivered to Pickaway SWCD, 110 Island Road, Suite D, Circleville, OH 43113. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Fish pickup is scheduled for Friday, April 3, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Pickaway County Fairgrounds Hog Barn, with access from the Lancaster Pike entrance near the Ankrom Building. Fish will not be pre-packaged and will be filled upon arrival.
While the SWCD guarantees fish will be delivered in good condition, survival after pickup cannot be guaranteed.
Customers are asked to bring appropriate containers for transport, such as a 10- to 20-gallon garbage can or a 5-gallon bucket. Containers should be lined with a non-deodorized plastic liner, such as a 30-gallon trash bag, which will be filled with oxygen for the fish. Containers should be tied closed with twine or a twist tie — not sealed with a lid — and filled one-third full with pond water. General guidelines recommend one container per 100 small fish, 1,000 minnows, or four to five large fish.
Beginning January 1, 2022, the Pickaway SWCD charges 7.25% sales tax on all items sold or rented, as required by the state. Tax-exempt entities must submit a valid tax-exempt form to the office at the time of purchase.
Additional information about fish species offered in the sale is available through the district’s supplier, Fender’s Fish Hatchery, at fendersfishhatchery.com.
