PICKAWAY COUNTY, OH — Six graduating high school students were celebrated this spring as recipients of the Donald E. Minor Memorial Scholarship, awarded by the Pickaway Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD). The announcement, made on Monday, May 19, 2025, highlights a record-breaking 21 applications received this year, reflecting strong interest among local students.
The SWCD awarded three $1,000 scholarships to Anna Snyder, Mitchell Ruff, and Maggie Wilson. Due to the exceptional quality of applicants, an additional three $500 scholarships were granted to Lauren Barnes, Andrew Roberts, and Keegan Diehl.

The scholarship funds are drawn from the SWCD’s Affiliate Membership program, which relies on generous donations from community supporters. The Pickaway SWCD Board of Supervisors expressed gratitude to these contributors, noting the growing importance of private funding as county and state support becomes increasingly limited.
The district plays a vital role in educating hundreds of children and adults annually through its free Education Program, which includes school programs, student scholarships, Experience Earth Camps, the Junior Conservationist Program, contributions to the Pickaway County Buyers Club, the Pickaway County Fair, and a farm-to-table book project, among other community initiatives. These efforts aim to promote the conservation of natural resources for current and future generations.
The Board invites the public to join the Affiliate Membership program to support these impactful endeavors. For more information, interested individuals can contact the Pickaway SWCD.
