With great sadness we would like to announce the passing of Retired Captain and current Reserve Deputy Jon F. Rhoades.

On January 4, 2026, 61-year-old Jon Rhoades passed away at his residence of natural causes.

Jon Rhoades began his law enforcement career with the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office when he hired in under Sheriff Dwight E. Radcliff in the Corrections Division. Jon Rhoades graduated from Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training in November of 1989. Deputy Rhoades worked many jobs within the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office until 1989 when he resigned to take a job with the Ohio State Highway Patrol as a Police Officer.

Jon Rhoades worked for the state of Ohio for almost two years before he transferred within the state to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO). Jon Rhoades worked for PUCO until he retired from there in 2017.

During Jon’s time with the State Of Ohio, he remained a Reserve Deputy for Pickaway County.

Shortly after retiring Jon Rhoades was hired by Sheriff Robert B. Radcliff as a Lieutenant over the Communications Center. Lt. Rhoades held that position until March of 2023 where he was appointed to Captain over the Communications Center. Captain Rhoades retired from his full-time status in August of 2023.

Jon Rhoades remained very active with the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputy Program.

Most recently Jon was elected Fiscal Officer in Jackson Township.

Deputy Rhoades has been a lifelong servant of not only Pickaway County but the entire State of Ohio and will be deeply missed.

We will pass along funeral arrangements once they are made available
