CIRCLEVILLE, OH — The Pickaway County Republican Party will hold an open house on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 7:00 PM at their headquarters at 108 S. Court St., featuring State Senator Michele Reynolds. Representing Pickaway, Madison, and parts of Franklin County, Reynolds will share her insights and experiences with attendees.

A third-generation business owner, Reynolds grew up immersed in the family business, Stanton Group Homes, founded by her grandparents in 1978 to provide residential services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Working in the business as a teenager and young adult, she witnessed her grandparents’ dedication to caring for residents, managing payroll, ensuring compliance, and keeping the business thriving. Reynolds credits her grandmother, a strong leader and the eldest of 14 children, as a major influence. Married for 47 years, a mother, and a businesswoman, her grandmother helped raise Reynolds alongside her mother, instilling values of family, character, and the importance of standing up for the vulnerable, prioritizing education, and embracing hard work.

Reynolds has been active on numerous legislative fronts. As Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Housing, she produced Ohio’s 2024 Housing Legislative Report and co-sponsored bills like HB 466 (requiring written real estate agreements) and SB 43 (modifying homestead exemptions for disabled veterans’ spouses). Her sponsored legislation includes SB 244 (Ohio Property Protection Act), SB 249 (grants for mortgage and utility aid), and SB 246 (renaming the Department of Development).

On economic opportunity, she serves on the Minority Development Finance Advisory Board and co-sponsored HB 2 (state budget for economic growth) and SB 39 (exempting baby products from sales tax). As a member of the Senate Workforce and Higher Education Committee, she hosted the 2024 and 2025 POWERUP Career Expos and sponsored SB 273 (Child Care Cred Program).

In education, Reynolds, a Senate Education Committee member, sponsored SB 79 (dropout prevention) and SB 182 (Foster-to-College Scholarship). For public safety, as Vice-Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, she co-sponsored SB 101 (abolishing the death penalty) and sponsored SB 313 (Alyssa’s Law for school panic alerts). She also serves on the Ohio Access to Justice Foundation Board, sponsoring SB 147 (Voter Modernization Act).

Reynolds co-chairs the Ohio Prayer Caucus, sponsoring SB 49 (religious holidays for students), and serves as a Commissioner on the Ohio Commission on Minority Health, sponsoring SB 93 (Medicaid doula services). She also contributes to the Ohio Fatherhood Commission and New African Immigrant Commission, sponsoring SB 54 (New African Immigrants Grant Fund).
