WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A serious collision occurred late Saturday night, October 5, 2025, at the intersection of Ringgold Southern Road and US-22 in Washington Township, Pickaway County, resulting in injuries and significant vehicle damage, according to a report from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash, reported at 10:30 p.m., involved a blue 2025 Toyota Corolla driven by 18-year-old Danica Disbennett of Laurelville and a red 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by 35-year-old Christopher Cardenas of Zanesville. Authorities say Disbennett, traveling southbound on Ringgold Southern Road, stopped at a stop sign before proceeding into the intersection, where she failed to yield to oncoming traffic. Cardenas, driving eastbound on US-22 at an estimated speed of 55 mph, struck the passenger side of Disbennett’s vehicle.

The impact sent both vehicles off the southeast corner of the intersection, coming to rest in a ditch. Disbennett’s Corolla spun approximately 90 degrees, facing west, while both vehicles sustained disabling damage. No brake marks were observed at the scene, indicating neither driver attempted to stop before the collision.

Disbennett, who sustained possible injuries, and her passenger, 17-year-old Teen of Circleville, who suffered suspected serious injuries, were transported by Clearcreek Township EMS to Ohio Health – Berger for treatment. The Teen was trapped in the vehicle and required mechanical extrication. Cardenas, who reported no apparent injuries, was not transported. All occupants were wearing shoulder and lap belts, and airbags deployed in both vehicles. After the teen arrived at Berger she was medflown to a Columbus Critical Care Hospital.

The sheriff’s report indicates the crash occurred on a dry, straight, and level two-way road under dark, unlit conditions with clear weather. Disbennett was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign under Ohio Revised Code 4511.43A. The roadway was closed for 43 minutes as deputies and EMS responded, with the scene cleared by 1:21 a.m. on October 6. Both vehicles were towed by Scioto Valley Wrecker Service.

The investigation, led by Deputy Joseph Hugus and reviewed by Deputy Stacey Eitel, remains ongoing. No alcohol or drugs are suspected as contributing factors, and no other citations were issued.
