PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — The Pickaway County Red Cross is once again spreading holiday cheer with its annual Senior Giving Tree, a beloved tradition that brightens the holidays for seniors living in local nursing homes. This charitable initiative provides gifts to elderly residents who might otherwise go without during the holiday season.
This year, the program features wish lists from 302 residents in four Pickaway County nursing homes. The lists include practical and thoughtful items such as toiletries, socks, puzzles, hair products, and other small comforts that make a meaningful difference for seniors in long-term care.
Community members can participate by selecting one or more tags from the giving trees, purchasing the requested items, and returning the gifts in gift bags to WesBanco Bank in Circleville. All gifts are due Monday, December 16, to ensure they are delivered in time for Christmas. Each tag includes detailed instructions and delivery information.
Trees are set up at nine locations across the county, including:
- WesBanco Bank, Circleville
- Circleville and Ashville Apothecary
- Kingston National Bank, Circleville and South Bloomfield
- Ashville IGA
- Gibby’s Restaurant
- Pickaway County Library, Circleville
- Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center
- Trinity Lutheran Church
For those who wish to contribute but do not have time to shop, the program also offers the option to donate via Zelle, and volunteers will handle the shopping on their behalf.
Started nearly 20 years ago by a Red Cross volunteer who recognized a need in local nursing homes, the Senior Giving Tree has grown into a cherished tradition supported by the Pickaway County community. The program ensures that all donations remain local, providing holiday joy to seniors throughout the county.
