CIRCLEVILLE, OH – August 7, 2025 — Chad Scott, a former Pickaway County employee accused of embezzling more than $170,000 from his employer, Agroscapes Inc., has been found guilty and sentenced in Pickaway County Common Pleas Court.

Scott, 49, was sentenced to five years of community control, with 36 months suspended. He was also ordered to pay full restitution in the amount of $171,148.83.

As part of his sentence, Scott must adhere to strict conditions including:

  • Remaining within the state of Ohio
  • Maintaining full-time employment
  • Having no contact with the victim or representatives of Agroscapes
  • Observing a daily curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The charges stem from a December 2024 investigation after Agroscapes reported suspicious wire transfers discovered during a routine audit. Company officials said the irregularities began in July 2024 when a payment of over $2,200, intended for a vendor, was instead routed to Scott’s personal bank account. Further review uncovered a pattern of unauthorized transactions totaling more than $170,000.

Scott, who was responsible for accounts payable, had only been employed at Agroscapes since March 2024. He was arrested in January and charged with aggravated theft, a fourth-degree felony.

He initially faced up to 8 years in prison and a $15,000 fine. However, the court opted for community control with close monitoring and full restitution.
