Pickaway County, OH — Pickaway County Public Health is ramping up efforts to prevent opioid overdose deaths by expanding access to free naloxone through its Overdose Response Team (PORT).

The program now includes:

  • Four “Barney Boxes” in high-traffic community areas.
  • Five stainless steel “Mental Health Boxes” designed for year-round outdoor access.

Each box is stocked with naloxone (Narcan) and educational materials. Naloxone can reverse an opioid overdose in minutes, is safe, easy to use, and completely free.

Tiffany Singer, PORT Coordinator, emphasized the importance of the initiative: “Because every life in Pickaway County matters, we want naloxone to be readily available wherever it’s needed.”

Residents in need of Narcan can visit any of the free boxes or stop by Pickaway County Public Health. For questions, the PORT team can be reached at (740) 477-9667 ext. 384.

This program is funded in part by Grant Number 1H79T1087745-01 from SAMHSA and in partnership with the Paint Valley ADAMH Board. Its contents are the responsibility of the author and do not necessarily represent the official views of SAMHSA or the ADAMH Board.
