Pickaway County Common Pleas Court: Sentencings, Hearings, and Warrants – August 6, 2025

CIRCLEVILLE, OH — The Pickaway County Common Pleas Court, under the Honorable Judge Matthew H. Chafin, held a full docket on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, covering a range of criminal cases from drug possession and theft to felony assault and sex-related offenses.

Notable Cases:
Chad A. Scott (Case 2024CR0111)
Scott, 50, of Circleville, was sentenced to 5 years community control for Aggravated Theft (F-3) after stealing more than $171,000 from his employer, Agroscapes Inc. He must pay restitution totaling $171,148.83, is prohibited from leaving the state, and must maintain employment. The court also imposed a strict curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and ordered him to stay away from the victim.

Joshua Wade (2024CR0097)
Wade, 37, incarcerated at Marion County Correctional, pled not guilty to two counts of Pandering Sexually Oriented Material Involving a Minor (F-2 and F-4). His bond was set at $100,000, with conditions including no contact with victims and not leaving the state. A pre-trial hearing is set for August 14.

Shad N. Sammet (2024CR0096)
Summet, 31, currently held at Trumbull Correctional, faces four counts of pandering and producing sexually explicit material involving a minor. He pled not guilty, with bond set at $75,000, and the same restrictions as Wade.

Garardo Hernandez Carmo (2024CR0098)
Carmo, 29, from the Ohio State Penitentiary, pled not guilty to Felonious Assault (F-2). His bond was set at $25,000 and he must stay away from the victim.

Tioma K. Onstey (2024CR0235 & 2024CR0246)
Onstey, 45, of the Pickaway County Jail, had two cases on the docket. One involved Aggravated Possession of Drugs and operating a vehicle while impaired. The other involved an Escape (F-3) charge. Hearings are scheduled for later this month.

Smith Ann Weaver (2024CR0064)
Weaver, 31, of Circleville, faces charges including Felonious Assault (F-2) and Menacing by Stalking (F-4). Her case was continued as she remains in the custody of Central Ohio Behavioral Health.

Additional Notes:
Multiple individuals, including Michael G. Hackney, Julianna L. Jessie, and Brian K. Johnson, failed to appear in court, resulting in capias warrants being issued.

Tammra Jane Thornton was denied release during her second bond hearing for a probation violation.

Annie Day and Tracy McDade were both issued bonds with orders to stay away from victims and not leave the state.
