CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (Aug. 29, 2025) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol, along with the Ross County Sheriff’s Office and the Chillicothe Police Department, will conduct an OVI checkpoint tonight on Western Avenue.
The checkpoint will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is part of a statewide effort to crack down on impaired driving. The operation is funded through federal grant money and will be supported by nearby saturation patrols to catch additional impaired drivers who attempt to avoid the checkpoint.
Officials say the goal is not only to enforce the law but also to save lives by deterring people from driving under the influence.
“If you plan to drink, have a designated driver or arrange another way home,” the Highway Patrol urged in a release. “Don’t let another life be lost to the selfish act of impaired driving.”
