CHILLICOTHE — The Ohio State Highway Patrol has announced that an OVI checkpoint will be conducted in Ross County on Friday evening, August 29, 2025.
The checkpoint, funded through federal grant money, is part of an ongoing statewide effort to deter and intercept impaired drivers.
According to provisional data, Ohio recorded 538 OVI-related fatal crashes in 2024, claiming the lives of 589 people.
“State troopers make an average of 25,000 OVI arrests each year in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers,” said Lieutenant Aaron M. Morgan, commander of the Chillicothe Post. “OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove dangerous drivers from our roadways.”
The exact location of the checkpoint will be released Friday morning.
