PICKAWAY COUNTY — Deputies are investigating a shooting that left one person seriously injured Monday afternoon at a trailer park community on Duvall Road.
According to initial reports, the shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. at a trailer located in the 4800 block of Duvall Road. A 911 caller reported that the victim had been shot in the chest.
When deputies arrived, they secured the scene and learned that the suspected shooter fled the area in a white or gray vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Deputies began CPR on the victim before paramedics, who were already staged nearby, rushed in to provide advanced medical care. The victim was transported to a Columbus trauma hospital with at least one gunshot wound.
Neighbors told investigators the incident may have stemmed from a drug deal gone wrong, though officials have not yet confirmed the motive.
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office has taped off the area and is asking the public to avoid the scene while the investigation continues.
