One Killed in Crash Involving Semi on U.S. 23 in South Columbus

SOUTH COLUMBUS — One person was killed Tuesday morning following a serious crash involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle on U.S. 23 just north of Pickaway County, according to early reports.

The crash occurred around 9 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. 23 and Rathmell Road. Authorities say the collision involved a semi-truck and a sedan. The occupant of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result of the crash, all northbound lanes of U.S. 23 were shut down for a period of time while emergency crews responded and investigators worked the scene. Traffic was diverted as crews cleared the roadway and assessed the incident.

The identity of the person killed has not yet been released, and officials have not provided additional details regarding the cause of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
