CHILLICOTHE, OH — Ohio University Chillicothe is inviting students, faculty, and community members to explore the fast-growing world of artificial intelligence through two upcoming free workshops this fall.
The sessions — Unlocking the Power of AI and Mastering AI Prompting — will introduce participants to popular AI tools and techniques that can enhance learning, creativity, and productivity. Both workshops will be held in Bennett Hall, Room 272, and are open to the public at no cost.
Interim Dean Mike Lafreniere said the programs are part of the university’s effort to help the community better understand and benefit from emerging technologies.
“These sessions are designed to make AI approachable and useful for everyone — from students and professionals to lifelong learners,” Lafreniere said.
Unlocking the Power of AI will cover the basics of tools like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Gemini, and NotebookLM, with hands-on activities and live demonstrations. Participants can choose from sessions offered on Wednesday, October 29; Monday, November 3; or Monday, November 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Mastering AI Prompting will take a deeper dive into crafting effective, multi-step prompts to get more powerful results from AI. The advanced-level workshop is ideal for those with prior AI experience or who have completed the introductory session. It will be offered on Thursday, October 30; Tuesday, November 4; or Wednesday, November 12, also from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
