INDIANAPOLIS — The stage is officially set for one of the most anticipated conference title games in college football history. No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Indiana — both undefeated at 12-0 — will collide in the 2025 Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. ET inside Lucas Oil Stadium.
It will mark the first time ever that both teams enter the Big Ten title game unbeaten, creating a colossal matchup with enormous postseason stakes. The winner not only claims the Big Ten crown but is expected to secure the No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff.
Even the loser is unlikely to fall far: both teams are widely projected to receive first-round byes in the expanded CFP format, barring a shocking blowout or major injury.
A Season-Long Collision Course
Ohio State and Indiana have been atop every major poll throughout the season, dominating opponents and appearing destined for this title game since early fall.
For Indiana, the game represents a historic milestone. It is the Hoosiers’ first-ever appearance in the Big Ten Championship Game, and their first chance to win an outright Big Ten title since 1945.
Ohio State, meanwhile, returns once again as one of the sport’s blue-blood powerhouses, seeking another conference title and its second straight playoff run under head coach Ryan Day.
A Premier Quarterback Duel
The championship game will showcase two of the nation’s brightest stars under center:
- Julian Sayin, Ohio State’s Heisman-contending quarterback who has led the Buckeyes to the nation’s top ranking
- Fernando Mendoza, Indiana’s breakout star and fellow Heisman frontrunner
Their duel is expected to be one of the defining storylines of championship weekend.
Buckeyes Hold the Historical Edge
Despite Indiana’s rise, Ohio State has dominated the all-time series. The Hoosiers have not beaten Ohio State since 1988, and the Buckeyes have won 30 straight matchups. OSU leads the series 81-12-5.
The teams’ most recent clash came late last season, when Ohio State rolled to a 38–15 victory in Columbus.
A Big Day for Hoosier Fans
The football showdown caps off a festive day in downtown Indianapolis for Indiana supporters. Earlier that afternoon, the No. 24/25 IU men’s basketball team faces No. 5/6 Louisville at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, creating a marquee doubleheader for Hoosier Nation.
As two undefeated giants prepare to collide, the 2025 Big Ten Championship Game is shaping up to be one of the biggest matchups in conference history — and possibly a preview of an even bigger postseason rematch to come.
