FOSTORIA, OH – An Ohio police officer suffered an overdose during a traffic stop on Saturday, June 14, 2025, leading to the arrest of two individuals on drug-related charges, according to a press release from the Fostoria Police Department issued on the same day.

The incident began at approximately 2:11 a.m. when officers conducted a traffic stop on the 400 block of Columbus Ave. after observing suspicious activity that suggested possible illegal drugs in the vehicle. A K9 unit was called to the scene. A positive indication by K9 established probable cause, prompting a search of the vehicle.

During the search, an officer located a white powdery substance in a baggie. The substance, now presumed to be fentanyl, became airborne due to weather conditions and exposed Officer Moon. Officer Moon collapsed, believed to have suffered an overdose. Officers on scene, immediately began life-saving measures and called for EMS. Officer Moon was transported by EMS to Fostoria Community Hospital for further evaluation, where he was treated and later released.

Bowers was arrested for Corrupting Another with Drugs, a second-degree felony under ORC 2925.02, while the driver, Alex Tiell, was charged with Complicity, also a second-degree felony under ORC 2923.03. Both were transported to Seneca County Jail for investigation and chemical testing, with additional charges pending further review.

Chief Gabe Wedge praised the officers’ response, stating, “I cannot say enough, how proud I am of these officers and how they responded, saving a fellow officer’s life was saved today because of it. Experience and training truly paid off, and an officer’s life was saved today because of it.”
