COLUMBUS, Ohio (Sept. 2, 2025) – More than $3.7 million in federal funding has been awarded to support domestic violence victims and their families across Ohio, state officials announced Tuesday.
The Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) awarded grants to 57 projects in 43 counties, enabling community-based nonprofits to expand emergency shelter services and provide critical support for survivors of family violence, domestic violence, and dating violence.
The grants, issued through the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA) Formula Grant to States and Territories, will fund programs operating from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.
According to OCJS, the funding will help:
- Prevent incidents of family, domestic, and dating violence.
- Provide immediate shelter and supportive services for victims and their dependents.
- Expand specialized services for children exposed to violence, underserved populations, and minority communities disproportionately affected.
“These grants are about protecting the most vulnerable Ohioans and ensuring survivors of abuse have a safe place to turn,” said OCJS officials in a statement.
OCJS, a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety, oversees millions of dollars in state and federal criminal justice funding each year, providing resources, training, and evaluation support to communities across the state.
