CIRCLEVILLE, OH – Visitors to the Circleville Pumpkin Show have a new culinary attraction to savor this year — The Chopp Boxx, a food truck known for its premium hibachi-style meals and handcrafted flavors.
Chef and owner Nathaniel Gonyer is serving up sizzling plates of Black Angus steak, phosphate-free shrimp, and never-frozen chicken thighs at the corner of 110 N. Scioto St. The Chopp Boxx prides itself on using only the freshest ingredients, all cooked to order and paired with house-made sauces and seasoning blends.
“We focus on quality — 100% quality,” Gonyer said. “Everything is cooked fresh, never frozen. We don’t cut corners, and our customers can taste the difference.”
The Chopp Boxx’s menu features hibachi favorites like Korean bourbon chicken, hand-cut vegetables seared with signature seasoning, and lo mein noodles made to order for perfect texture. They also offer a half-pound Black Angus steak burger blended with short rib and brisket, served with their house-made yum yum sauce.
Originally from Peterson, Ohio, Gonyer launched The Chopp Boxx four years ago after leaving a career in food service operations. With a background in culinary arts and restaurant management, he decided to take his passion for quality food on the road.
“Life’s expensive, and I wanted to do something that mattered — something that let me see the smiles on people’s faces,” he said. “That ‘wow’ moment when someone tastes our food, that’s what drives us.”
Since its start, The Chopp Boxx has built a reputation across Ohio for its premium ingredients and customer service, earning five-star reviews from fans and selling out at major fairs. Gonyer says his team completes around 27 fairs per year before heading south for the winter.
Following the Pumpkin Show, The Chopp Boxx will head to Florida for a series of six major fairs, each lasting two weeks. The team also recently signed a deal with Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, where they’ll be providing catering services starting in November.
“We’re growing fast, but we’ll never sacrifice quality,” Gonyer said. “It’s hard work, but it’s worth it.”
Pumpkin Show attendees can find The Chopp Boxx by looking for the trailer with the eagle logo — a detail Gonyer says is important, since another vendor on site is also serving hibachi.
The Chopp Boxx’s Circleville stop marks its final Ohio appearance of the season before hitting the road south on October 22. This is a new vendor to Circleville make sure to try it out.
